Peer review
All research articles published in ECiencia undergo a rigorous peer review process under a "double-blind" system. This process involves an initial selection by the editor, anonymous review by expert and independent reviewers, and subsequent revisions by the authors when necessary.
The editorial team will assign each article to a minimum of two subject matter experts, who will review the manuscript, provide recommendations for improvement, and issue a verdict of acceptance or rejection. For final publication, a positive evaluation from both reviewers is required. If one of the evaluations is not positive, the manuscript will undergo a third review. The final outcome may be acceptance of the manuscript, the need for revisions for re-evaluation, or rejection for publication in the journal.
The review process will be conducted blindly, meaning reviewers will not know the identity of the authors, nor will the authors know who evaluated their articles. However, it is recommended to publish lists of external reviewers who have collaborated with the journal in previous years.
Ethical Guidelines for Reviewers
All reviewers must adhere to the following ethical guidelines:
- Accept only manuscripts within their area of expertise and commit to completing the review within the established deadlines.
- Be objective and constructive in their reviews, avoiding defamatory or derogatory personal comments.
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest, including any relationships with the authors that could bias their review.
- Evaluate each author based on their merits, without distinctions based on race, religion, nationality, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation.
- Maintain the confidentiality of the peer review process at all times.
- Provide a peer review report that is constructive, comprehensive, verified, and appropriately detailed.
- Inform the journal editor of any significant similarities between the manuscript under consideration and any published article or submitted manuscript of which they are aware.
The Editorial Board, considering all external review reports, will make the final decision on the publication or rejection of each article and will always communicate this decision to the authors.
