Digital Preservation and Accessibility

ECiencia implements a series of procedures to ensure the permanent accessibility and preservation of the digital objects hosted on its servers. These procedures include:

  • Backups: Regular backups are performed to ensure data recovery in case of system failure.
  • Monitoring of Technological Environment: Technological advancements are continuously monitored to anticipate and carry out necessary migrations in case of obsolete formats or software.
  • Digital Preservation Metadata: Specific metadata is applied to facilitate long-term digital preservation.
  • Use of Digital Object Identifier (DOI): All published articles are assigned a DOI, which facilitates their location and preservation over time.
  • Editorial Management with OJS (Open Journal Systems): ECiencia uses OJS version 3.4.0.6, an open-source software compatible with the OAI-PMH (Open Archive Initiative-Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interoperability protocol, enabling better management and dissemination of content.

ECiencia utilizes the PKP Preservation Network, which provides open-source preservation services, ensuring continuous and permanent access to the digital content generated by our publication.

All files published on ECiencia’s website are available in easily reproducible formats, guaranteeing their accessibility over time. The digital preservation policy will be periodically reviewed by Editorial CECDA to align with best practices and ensure the continuity and preservation of content.
