Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit their work to this journal, where all submissions will first be evaluated by an editor to verify whether they meet the publication’s aims and scope. Those deemed suitable will proceed to peer review for acceptance or rejection.

Before submitting, authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions to publish any included material, such as photos, documents, and datasets. Additionally, all authors listed on the submission must consent to being identified as such. When applicable, research must have received approval from an appropriate ethics committee, in accordance with the legal regulations of the country where the study was conducted.

An editor may reject a submission if it does not meet minimum quality standards. Therefore, before proceeding, ensure that the study design and research argument are well-structured and clearly presented. The title must be clear and concise, and the abstract must stand alone and be understandable on its own. Meeting these requirements will increase the likelihood that reviewers will agree to evaluate your article. Once you are confident your submission meets these standards, proceed to review the checklist to prepare your submission.

Submission Format: Articles must conform to the provided submission template. Text length is subject to ECiencia’s policies.

Figures, Tables, Illustrations, and Graphs: All visual elements must be embedded in the appropriate section within the text, not at the end. Additionally, original or higher-quality versions must be uploaded in the "Upload Files" section during the manuscript submission process.

Research Data Deposit Policy: ECiencia encourages authors to deposit the analytical materials and data (qualitative and/or quantitative) used in their articles in recognized repositories, whether discipline-specific or general-purpose. This policy aims to foster scientific development and ensure that research can be validated, replicated, and analyzed in future studies. Data deposit will be considered an additional merit during the evaluation process.

Keywords: The document must include three to five keywords in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, which are not mentioned in the title but do appear in the abstract. Keywords must be listed in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons.

Translation of Metadata (Title, Abstract, Keywords): Translations must meet academic publishing standards for quality and accuracy. It is recommended that translations be reviewed by competent individuals, preferably native speakers or bilingual professionals.

Author Contribution Statement: The contribution of each author must be specified according to the contribution taxonomy outlined in the relevant contributions table.

Declaration on the Use of LLMs: Before the “Author Contribution Statement” section, include one of the following, as appropriate:
“This article did not use any content generated by an LLM (ChatGPT or others) for its writing,”
or alternatively:
“This article used [name(s) of tool(s)] as a reference or subject of research in accordance with APA 7th edition guidelines.”
In such cases, a clear and concise explanation (maximum 75 words) must be included, describing how the AI applications were used and their limitations.

General Guidelines for Submissions:

  • Submissions must be written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

  • Preferred file format is Microsoft Word (.docx), and use of the submission template is recommended.

The text format must follow these standards:

Submissions must adhere to essential manuscript presentation guidelines, including text formatting, citation style, and requirements for tables and figures, as well as copyright policies. For full details and to ensure compliance with specific requirements, authors should consult the provided link.

Submission Anonymization: Submissions must be anonymized. Authors must remove their names and any identifying references from both the text and file properties. In Microsoft Office documents, go to File > Info > Inspect Document > Inspect, then select “Remove All.” In LibreOffice, go to File > Properties > General > Uncheck "Apply user data" > Reset Properties > Save. A non-anonymized version will be required if the text is accepted for publication.

Online Submission: Texts must be submitted via the ECiencia platform. Submissions via email or other means are not accepted. Manuscripts may be submitted to the Articles section of the journal. All metadata fields must be completed, including the ORCID identifier and the reference list formatted according to APA 7th edition. A data sheet must also be included with a biographical summary (75–100 words) for each author, and optionally, their social media and other relevant information.

Anti-Plagiarism Policy: ECiencia maintains an anti-plagiarism policy to ensure the originality of all manuscripts through the use of specialized software. This policy ensures originality standards and detects similarities between submitted texts and previously published content.
