ECiencia retains the economic rights (copyright) of published works. All content is distributed under an Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) usage and distribution license.

This license allows users to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon the material) for any non-commercial purpose, provided that authorship and the original publication in ECiencia are acknowledged, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are indicated. Additionally, if the material is modified or used as the basis for another work, it must be distributed under the same license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

This type of license facilitates reuse for academic purposes and ensures that the journal’s content can be used for research and teaching needs, as long as there are no commercial purposes.

Authors are permitted to reuse their published works, including the post-print file (final PDF version from the publisher). It is also recommended that authors deposit their works on social media, institutional and public repositories, academic social networks, personal websites, blogs, etc.

These actions promote the early circulation and dissemination of the works, which can increase their citation and reach within the academic community, while always respecting the terms of the license and ensuring that any redistribution or adaptation adheres to the same non-commercial conditions.

Rights Retained by Authors

Although authors transfer economic rights to the journal, they retain certain rights over their works, particularly regarding moral rights.

• Right to Be Recognized as the Author (Paternity Right): Authors maintain the right to be identified as the original authors of the work. This means that any use of the article must include proper acknowledgment of the authors.
• Right to the Integrity of the Work: Authors retain the right to object to any modification, mutilation, or distortion of their work by the journal that could negatively affect their honor or reputation.
• Right to Use the Article for Personal and Academic Purposes: Authors may use their article for personal, academic, or non-commercial purposes, such as presentations at conferences, congresses, classes, personal websites, or social media.
• Right to Reuse Content for Future Works: Authors have the right to reuse parts of their own article (such as figures, tables, and textual excerpts) in future publications or their own works, provided the original publication in the journal is properly cited.
• Right to Archive in Institutional or Personal Repositories: Authors have the right to archive a copy of the published version of the manuscript (post-print) in institutional, personal, or thematic repositories, subject to the following conditions:
  • Authors may only exercise this right one month and one day after the article has been published in this journal.
  • The archived version in repositories must be the one published in this journal and include a statement indicating that formal reference should be made to the edition published in ECiencia, providing a link to the journal’s official website.
